Christmas cards that plant trees!

Earth Greetings 2011 Christmas cards are inspired by Australian natives & bring peaceful greetings of the season in pretty mint, green & red with pops of less traditional colours.  They’re printed carbon neutral in Australia, with vegetable based ink on 100% post-consumer recycled paper. As well as our boxed Christmas cards there are also cute matching Christmas gift tags & wrapping paper available.

Every pack of 10 Christmas cards plants a tree, through our donation to Trees For Life.  Trees For Life grow over 1 million seedlings every year & protect over 4000 hectares of our native bushland.

Corporate businesses please email me to obtain our 2011 Corporate Christmas card brochure & show your clients & staff how much you value them & our environment.

I am proud to say that so far we have helped Trees For Life plant over 26,000 trees with sales of our boxed cards, and I can't think of a better and simpler way to help the environment than to plant more trees!

Screen printing fun

I just love the way screen printing turns out on earthy, natural unbleached 100% post-consumer waste board. The colours of the UV inks really seem to pop from the paper! It was so much fun printing our new notebooks, in four colourways. I enjoy being limited to four colours & keeping the designs really simple.

I use a local screen printer who works with me to make sure my designs turn out after they've been converted to screens. Lucky for me, they've been screenprinting for quite a few years so know exactly what they're doing!

For the remainder of this year I'm working with screenprinting for a number of new paper goodies which will come out early 2012. I'm looking forward to releasing our new screen printed Valentine's day cards in October 2011, as well as expanding our stationery range.

Life Instyle 2011

On 4 - 7 August in Melbourne Earth Greetings exhibited at our first Life Instyle. Life Instyle is a trade event 'selectively showcasing the business of design' & exhibitors are selected by jury for their high calibre product and demonstrated commitment to good design.

It was fantastic fun to launch our 2011 Christmas card & wrap range at the fair. My designs are is inspired by Australian native trees & branches. I discovered you can make rather lovely Christmas wreaths with them! Bottlebrush also looks remarkably Christmassey when used to tinsel-like effect too. Such a pleasure to be surrounded by the beauty of nature - a constant source of inspiration which I especially appreciate when designing a Christmas range. No tacky snowmen or santas in sight!

Trees For Life

Trees For LifeEarth Greetings are proud to be a major supporter of the Trees For Life organisation through sales of our boxed cards. Every time you purchase a pack of Earth Greetings Christmas cards or Dreamscapes everyday cards, we make a donation to Trees For Life to plant a tree.

Our ongoing support since 2008 has enabled Trees For Life to plant over 26,000 native seedlings which are used for re-vegetation projects throughout Australia. Trees provide homes for native wildlife, help to reduce erosion and return oxygen to the atmosphere to mitigate climate change.

We can't think of a better and simpler way to help the environment than to plant more trees!

Forests or Furnaces?

The Tasmanian forest agreement - finalised in December 2010 by environment groups, the timber industry and unions - rules out using our native forests to produce so-called 'green' power.

But it's a different story on the mainland. Corporate giants including international paper conglomerate Nippon Paper want to throw our native forests into giant furnaces to generate electricity. Governments are even supporting this as a way of fighting climate change - calling it 'renewable energy'.

Right now, in the NSW town of Eden, Nippon Paper wants to stoke a furnace with the so-called 'waste' from forests in NSW and Victoria.

In Manjimup, WA, the State Government has already approved a giant furnace where trees from South West plantations will be incinerated. There is a real risk the plant will end up burning native forest logs too, devastating the habitat of unique wildlife including black cockatoos, chuditch, numbats and many other threatened species.

The Wilderness Society is asking for your help to push for protection of our mainland forests from being burned to power our homes, and stop companies getting away with calling burning forests for power 'renewable energy'.
